- You must provide the necessary health and character documents as required by the Australian Immigration Authorities or the Australian Government.
- You must provide genuine identity proof to the Australian Government.
- You must be proficient in at least the Functional Level of English.
- You must be 55 or less than that while applying for this particular visa.
- You must have current skilled employment or a skilled employment letter.
- To score the required points, you must have skilled work experience.
- To qualify for the visa, you must first submit an Expression of Interest(EOI).
- You must have the necessary qualification to qualify for the points that are asked by the Australian Government.
What is the Procedure to Apply For a Skilled Migrant Visa?
You have to follow certain steps to successfully apply for a skilled migrant visa. Have a look:
- You must have a necessary skills assessment that can effectively portray your qualifications & work experience to your skills assessment.
- Ensure meeting the necessary points that are required at the time when you file your Expression of Interest(EOI). The Department of Home Affairs restricts additional points cut-offs for occupations in no or low demand for those who don’t know.
- Following this, you will have to file your Expression of Interest(EOI) through the skill select program.
- After filing the EOI, you must receive a nomination by a State/Territory government. However, the process can vary depending on the state or territory government.
- So now when you have received the visa invitation, you have 60 days to lodge the visa application through the skill select portal.
At the time of writing, the Department of Home Affairs claims that the processing period for this visa takes up to around three months. However, in any critical condition, the time could even exceed three months.
What is an Expression Of Interest?
Before filing the visa application, you will have to file an expression of interest with the Australian Authorities following which you will be invited to apply for the visa. You will have to complete all the expressions of interest using the Skillselect Portal online. You will have to nominate only one occupation when you file your expression of interest. The nominated occupation should be the same as what you mentioned in your positive skills assessment. If your nominated occupation doesn’t match, you won’t get this visa.
You will have to repeat the whole EOI process in such a scenario as this kind of error can’t be fixed easily. Once submitted, EOI can be stored in Skillselect and remains valid for up to two years. If you score the required number of points for your nominated occupation, you will receive an invitation in the coming few rounds. For more information on this very aspect, you can visit the Department of Home Affairs(DHAs) Website.
What is the Validity Period of a Skilled Migrant Visa?
The skills assessment for a skilled migrant visa is usually valid for three years. In case your skills assessment doesn’t include a date, it is automatically assumed that the visa is valid for three years. However, if there is a date that is less than three years, the skills assessment validity goes after the date of the letter. Whereas, if the date is more than three years, the department will itself take no notice of it since the maximum validity is only for 3 years.
